In the EIP project PRIMEFRUIT, a plant-physiological approach to determine yield capacity will be developed for pome and stone fruit. For this, spatially resolved data on growth capacity will be collected with automatable laser scanners, and validated with laboratory data. Data are georeferenced and assessed for different soils. Based on physiological correction factors for the fruit respiration rate, mean yield capacities for Brandenburg sites can be determined, and a target size for optimal fruit density might be determined.
