Summary
The project aims to develop a method for on-demand application of fungicides in cereals. In this crop high savings of pesticides are to be expected when a fungicide application is controlled by a sensor. Among the crops in Europe, grain occupies the largest area.
In the joint project, the amount of spray liquid is to be adjusted to the plant parameters captured by the sensors while crossing the field, according to the specifications of an expert system. For the application systems to be developed both the probabilities of infections by various pathogens (expert system) is included as well as the very dense information on current biomass / plant surface as detected by the sensors. In comparison to a common application the amount of pesticide can be reduced. With a full sprayer tank more surface area can be efficiently treated, which reduces machine costs.
The research and development should result in transferable technology. The aim is to have commercially available technology provided by the two industrial project partners.
