July 7, 2017: Results of the COST Action "Biochar as option for sustainable resource management (TD1107)" have now been published in a special issue of the Journal of Environmental Engineering and Landscape Management. Articles are available open access. 

The COST-Action "Biochar as option for sustainable resource management (TD1107)" networked European research activities on the production and application of biochar for a period of four years (2012-2016).

Research results of the COST Action "Biochar as option for sustainable resource management (TD1107)" have now been published in a special issue of theJournal of Environmental Engineering and Landscape Management (25:2, 2017)

ATB scientist Dr. Jürgen Kern was co-initiator of the COST Action. He was actively engaged in COST Consortium and together with Dr. Ruben Sakrabani from Cranfield University (GB) coordinated one of the four Working Groups. WG 4 aimed at analysing the impacts of different biochar systems across Europe's soil types, agro-ecosystems and climate regimes. A further subject matter was the potential of biochar materials to substitute culture media deriving from peatlands.
