Summary
The aim of the MONIQUA project is to establish a digital monitoring system for the early detection and localisation of quarantine diseases in commercial fruit growing. On the basis of image recordings and machine learning image processing methods, specific disease symptoms are recorded and mapped in large numbers, at different stages of development and with high spatial resolution in apple and pear stands. The initial focus is on the detection of leaf symptoms. Data on the course of the disease symptoms will be compared with geo-information from the meteorological services. The long-term goal is to establish a labour-saving and cost-effective high-throughput procedure as a control system for fruit production and breeding that enables continuous spatial recording and documentation of infections by quarantine pests.
