Summary
The energy efficiency of drying largely determines the efficiency of the production of plant foods with high moisture content. At the same time ensuring product quality is a top priority. However, the basic drying performance of many types of products is not known particularly in variable operating conditions. therefore design and process control of belt dryers are usually made on the basis of past experience. Good depending drying parameters should be systematically analyzed and optimized using methods of model-based development. To this end, a comprehensive simulation model for continuously operated belt dryer is developed. The new research approach is to identify product-specific model and operating parameters not in the laboratory, but under practical conditions experimentally. The innovative core of the project is the process analysis and assessment of different operating variants, control concepts and dryer combinations.
