Summary
Highly flexible autonomous field robots open up new opportunities for creating more sustainable and resource-efficient agricultural systems. Smaller, more diverse cropping systems could transform the structure of agricultural landscapes and significantly reduce the impact of farming activities on the soil. Healthy soils are the key foundation for productive and resilient agriculture in the future. SoilRob aims to design, implement, and scientifically evaluate diversified, soil-friendly agricultural landscapes using autonomous field robots. The focus lies on improving soil health, promoting landscape diversification, and integrating digital technologies into agricultural practices. By providing the InnoHof as a planned research site, the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB) lays important groundwork for achieving SoilRob’s scientific objectives. In addition, ATB contributes its expertise through scientific advisory support, fostering the conceptual development and interdisciplinary dialogue within the project.
