Best presentation at “Speak Out for Engineering”
Shaikh Shahsharif Mohammedshafi, a doctoral student at ATB, was honoured in October for his excellent performance in the VDI Young Engineers “Speak Out for Engineering” competition. After his outstanding performance in Leipzig, he was invited to the national finals in Düsseldorf. We wish him ervery success.
Outstanding Graduate Student Paper and Presentation Award at ISAEW 2025
Xuefei Wu, also a doctoral student at ATB, was honoured with the Outstanding Graduate Student Paper und Presentation Award at this year's International Symposium on Animal Enviroment and Welfare (ISAEW 2025) in Chongqing, China for his outstanding research work.
In his presentation entitled “CFD validation on the ventilation performance inside a naturally ventilated pig barn with outdoor exercise yard”, Xuefei Wu presented the results of his joint work with Dr David Janke, Prof Thomas Amon and Dr Quanying Yi on the validation of ventilation performance in naturally ventilated pig barns with outdoor areas.
The work provides valuable insights for optimising the barn climate and makes an important contribution to the development of sustainable and animalfriendly husbandry systems.
Further successes
During the symposium, Dr Qianying Yi, postdoc at ATB, was appointed to the board of the International Research Center for Animal Enviroment and Welfare (IRCAEW) - recognition of her outstanding scientific expertise in the fild of animal husbandry and stable climate.
Background
The ISAEW 2025 took place from 20 to 30 October 2025 in Chongqing, China. It featured 23 invited keynote speeches and 31 student presentations with a total of around 220 participants, including 160 experts and students from research and practice.
Das ATB war mit folgenden Beiträgen vertreten:
- Prof Thomas Amon: "Sustainable livestock systems as an essential prerequisite for One Healthimplementation” (keynote talk)
- Dr Qianying Yi: "On-farm measurements and analysis of barn climate for a naturally ventilated fattening pig barn with an outdoor yard" (invited talk)
- Xuefei Wu: “CFD validation on the ventilation performance inside a naturally ventilated pig barn with an outdoor exrcise yard” (Award-Winning Presentation)
Following the symposium, Prof Thomas Amon visited three renowned research institutions in Beijing, China, to deepen scientific exchange and discuss future collaborations:
- Institut of Enviroment and Sustainable Development in Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS)
- Institut of Animal Sciendes, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS)
- College of Water Resources and Civil Engineering, China Agritultural University
