Summary
At the Leibniz Innovation Farm for Sustainable Bioeconomy, innovative concepts and technologies for a sustainable, circular bioeconomy will be developed and tested in future by combining agriculture with crop cultivation, animal husbandry and research biorefinery with algae cultivation, insect rearing, natural fibre processing, production of biochemicals and residue management with an integrated biogas plant. The innovation farm is being established as a model farm under the project management of the ATB in cooperation with numerous other research institutions, whereby an existing farm (LVAT e.V., Groß Kreutz) is being further diversified, digitalised and expanded to include a research biorefinery. The model farm will offer Leibniz institutions, universities and non-university research institutions an excellent research infrastructure to conduct joint research on inter- and transdisciplinary, cutting-edge topics. Another focus will be on the transfer of technology and knowledge to practical farmers as well as the communication of modern, sustainable agriculture and biomass use to consumers. The implementation of the model farm is supported with investment funds from the state of Brandenburg.
