ATB-Colloquium: Characterization of the fine dust emission during the application of differently treated manure related with the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria

As part of the Leibniz competition project SOARiAL, my doctoral thesis examines the formation and the transport of fine dust particles that are produced during the application of manure from intensive animal fattening. So far, it has been proven that arable land is contaminated by such fertilizers with antibiotic residues as well as with antimicrobial resistance, so that an air transport of antibiotic-resistant bacteria in association with fine dust particles is possible due to the application of contaminated manure. 

Experiments in the wind tunnel and in the field are intended to determine the extent to which manures are aerosolized and to which extent various manure treatments affect the physical and biological properties of the substrate, so that the aerosolizability of the substrate can be reduced in the One Health approach.
