Summary
The overall objective of the joint project is the development of products and / or pre-products for high-quality material use from reed biomass. Here, the focus is on the further development of glued products (OSB boards or scrimber) from reeds as a product and the research on the production of lactate from reed as starting material for polylactate. The target region of the joint project is the Ili-Delta in Kazachstan. The product development work will be embedded in a utilization strategy for the reef areas of the Ili Delta. On the one hand the potential value creation, on the other hand potential damages for the delta region are examined and a use strategy for the reed areas is developed, which combines value creation and preservation of the reed and wetland ecosystems with their ecosystem services. In addition, the legal framework of reed harvesting, as well as potential value chains in the Ili Delta, Kazakhstan are investigated.
