Summary
As part of the research project, the basis for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from digestate will be developed. The aim is the development of economic measures to reduce both methane as well as ammonia emissions, which are applicable especially for biogas plants with not fully covered and thus not gas-tight storage facilities for digestate. Microbiological will provide fundamental insights into the origin of such gases during open storage. Another goal is to reduce the storage time of digestate and thus the storage costs.
