Summary
The initiative aims to develop new products, processes, and services for the use of agricultural robots across various application areas in agriculture. A particular focus will be placed on the development of technical solutions that can be used across multiple robotic systems. The central objective of the network is to foster synergistic collaboration between participating companies and research institutions in order to develop innovative technical solutions for key unresolved challenges in agricultural robotics, and to jointly devise strategies for their commercialization. These robotic systems are intended to serve as environmentally friendly alternatives to conventional agricultural practices, some of which are currently not sustainable, and are expected to replace them in the medium to long term. On the technological side, the R&D activities within the network will especially focus on combining agricultural robotics with emerging approaches from artificial intelligence—particularly deep learning—to significantly enhance the precision and capabilities of robot-based systems.
