Nov 19, 2025: Processes Webinar "Sustainable Carbon Solutions by HTC Technology: Products and Market Potential"

Hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) is emerging as a key technology for the sustainable management of biomass and organic waste, offering a pathway to produce a carbon-rich solid (hydrochar) as well as a liquid product (process water) containing valuable compounds. As technological innovation progresses, so does the commercial viability and market interest in HTC-derived materials.

This webinar will explore the latest advancements in HTC technologies, the expanding range of product applications, and their market readiness. A special focus will be given to how current and upcoming environmental policies, such as the EU Green Deal, carbon reduction targets, and circular economy strategies, are shaping the innovation, investment, and large-scale adoption of HTC.

The online seminar is organised by MDPI Journal Processes and coordinated by Prof. Silvia Suero Román. The ATB is represented by Dr. Judy Libra, who will share her expertise in her 20-minute keynote speech titled "Sustainable carbon solutions using HTC technology: Products and Market Potential". Other speakers include Mr Marc Buttmann from TerraNova Energy GmbH and Dr Fritz Keller from 4C-Chem GmbH and act4carbon e. V.

Join industry leaders, researchers, and policy experts to explore how technology, product development, and regulation converge to drive HTC’s role in the green transition.

The entire event is free of charge for everyone, and all participants will receive a certificate after the event. In addition, the webinar will be recorded and made available free of charge at a later date. Therefore, you should register for the event even if you are unable to attend the conference live, so that you can be notified immediately when the recording is made public.
