May 5 - 7 ,2026: SeedCon 2026

The first international conference on the seed microbiome and microbial inheritance, SeedCon 2026, will take place from 5th to 7th May 2026 at the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB) in Potsdam. The event offers an inspiring setting for exchange and collaboration, bringing together leading scientists, young researchers and industry representatives.

Seeds contain more than just genetic information – they carry entire microbial worlds that shape the future of plants. The scientific programme covers innovative topics ranging from the origins of the seed microbiome to its structure and dynamics, the function of endophytes for plant health, agricultural and bioeconomic applications, and methodological advances. The conference will highlight how seed-associated microbes influence plant evolution, breeding, stress tolerance and sustainable agriculture. Further information can be found on the event page.

A special highlight will be the presentations by internationally renowned experts such as Ashley Shade, Gabriele Berg, Seth Bordenstein and many others. They are redefining our understanding of the seed microbiome – from its inheritance across plant generations to its role in enhancing plant performance. Their contributions are of the highest scientific quality and set the agenda for future research in this emerging field.

You have until 1 April 2026 to submit your abstracts to present your own work and participate in the joint exchange. This is your opportunity to network with leading researchers from around the world and shape the future of seed microbiome research.

Registration remains open until the end of the conference. Tickets can be purchased at the regular price of €400 for academics, €300 for students and €500 for industry representatives until 4 May. Further information about registering for the conference can be found on the event website.
