Summary
A quarter individual vacuum control that regulates the vacuum during milking, milk flow dependent and with a high reaction rate has already been successfully developed in a previous research project. It is based on the pressure measurement in the milk tube. This principle and the measurement principles used by the few manufacturers of such measuring devices provide only very rough values for the milk flow per udder quarter. They are difficult to calibrate and measure with time delay. With the existing devices, a precise, high-frequency, milk flow-dependent quarter individual regulation of milking processes is not possible, although this has been demonstrated to have significant benefits for animal welfare and economic efficiency. Therefore, the project aims to determine the most reliable measurement principle and to technically optimize it for measuring low milk flows. Results will contribute to control milking vacuum, pulsation and other milking parameters more efficiently.
