Summary
REGENSOY is an applied innovation project focused on the development, validation, and market preparation of SOYGUARD, a rhizobia-compatible soybean seed coating designed to improve microbial survival on seeds, support nodulation, and enhance agronomic performance under practical farming conditions. The project brings together SeedForward, ATB, and SAATBAU LINZ to optimize the formulation for shelf life, compatibility with commercial rhizobia inoculants, and technical applicability in seed treatment workflows. Under controlled conditions greenhouse, the consortium evaluates microbial survival, nodulation, and plant performance, followed by multi-site field validation across Europe to assess agronomic efficacy and operational scalability. In parallel, the project addresses regulatory compliance, certification, impact assessment, and commercialization readiness. REGENSOY aims to provide a robust and scalable seed treatment solution that supports sustainable soybean production, improves biological nitrogen fixation, and contributes to reduced dependence on mineral nitrogen fertilizers in line with EU sustainability goals.
