Summary
The main aim of this project is to establish a development platform for Green Biorefineries (GBRs) as a catalyst for agroecological transitions. By laying the groundwork for scaling up GBRs, the project positions them as a driver of regenerative and resilient agricultural value chains, maximizing the value of grass-based biomass, creating new businesses and economic incentives for ecologically intensified farming across the EU. By fostering diversified farming systems, GBRs will reduce synthetic input dependency and promote biodiversity. A key objective is to establish GBRs as central processing and business units that enable the cascade utilization of agricultural bioresources, transforming agricultural value chains by linking agriculture with feed, food, bio-composites, and biogas industries to enhance circularity and optimize resource use. The project highlights agroecology’s innovative potential to drive sustainable and economically viable business solutions, fostering resilient and socially inclusive value chains. The solutions developed in the project will be refined, and validated with stakeholders, ensuring their adaptability, replicability, and long-term impact across diverse regional contexts
