March 21, 2018: Craftsmen, contractors, planners and representatives of the ATB's funding bodies together with about 200 ATB staff members celebrated the topping-out ceremony for the Center for Technology and Knowledge Transfer on the grounds of the ATB. The new building will expand the institute's laboratory infrastructure and provide additional office and conference rooms for research and transfer.
Marco Welkner as representative of the shell construction company HTI Hoch-, Tief- und Industriebau GmbH Greußen held the speech on behalf of craftsmen and contractors.
"The shell was completed very quickly and in high quality. We are well on schedule", said Dr. Uta Tietz, administrative head at ATB. "We met highly-motivated construction workers who performed their tasks with care and skill. So we can be very confident that we will move into the building as planned at the end of January 2019.“
„Our special thanks go to our funding bodies who made this new building possible. With this new building our scientific work aiming for improved bio-economic production processes gets an ideal frame to be continuously developed in the coming years", said Dr. Uta Tietz.
The construction project totaling EUR 16.8 million is jointly financed by the federal government, represented by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), and the state of Brandenburg, represented by the Ministry of Sciences, Research and Cultural Affairs (MWFK).
agn Niederberghaus & Partner GmbH, Ibbenbüren, are in charge of general planning, M + M AG Böblingen for the planning of laboratories. The project is managed by Bauplanung Stoessel GmbH Berlin.
As early as 2013, an international workshop as a first brainstorming for the planned new building was hosted by the FH Potsdam. In 2015, the contracts for general planning and laboratory planning were signed. The building permit was granted in February 2017, however, archaeological excavations delayed the start of construction by a few months.
In September 2017, the foundation stone was laid in the presence of Brandenburg's Prime Minister Dr. Dietmar Woidke, Leibniz President Prof. Matthias Kleiner and other guests of honor.
