NutriAct - ATB is partner within "Kompetenzcluster der Ernährungsforschung "

Dec 1, 2015: Launch of the joint research project "NutriAct - Nutrition Intervention for Healthy Ageing", as part of "Kompetenzcluster der Ernährungsforschung". The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). ATB is one of 32 regional partners in the capital region Berlin/Potsdam.

NutriAct is synonym for "Nutritional Intervention for Healthy Ageing: Food Patterns, Behaviour, and Products / nutritional intervention for healthy ageing.

Subject of the research project is the identification of nutrial patterns, behavior and products with the aim of significantly optimization of the health status of the generations between 50-70 years with new nutritional strategies. Demographic change, increased life expectancy and the increased incidence of age-related diseases represent a challenge for society and show the special need to act on the research for a healthy diet in old age. New approaches should include strategies to better acceptance of products with regional components.

NutriAct is setup at ATB's research program "Quality and safety of food and feed". All competences for fundamental and applied research along the entire value networks are bundled within this specific research program.

ATB participates in NutriAct in the category "New Products". Main research questions are the influence of plasma on relevant protein, fat and fiber fractions and on selected modeled food produce.

The capital region Berlin / Potsdam is one out of four funded sites in Germany within the " Kompetenzcluster der Ernährungsforschung ". The research cluster includes more than 50 partners from 32 research institutions and companies. Scientists from experimental, clinical, epidemiological, and nutritional research collaborate interdisciplinary with scientists from behavioral science and social medicine. The head coordination of the joint research project is held by the German Institute of Human Nutrition Potsdam-Rehbrücke (DIfE).

The duration of the funding period will be three years. NutriAct is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) with a total amount of 5.6 Mio Euro.
