How can biomass contribute strategically to achieving climate neutrality by 2045? What biogenic carbon sources will be available in the future – and how can these be utilised efficiently, sustainably and in a way that supports the energy system? These questions will be the focus of the DBFZ Annual Conference 2026.
Under the overarching theme ‘Biomass 2045 – Shaping cycles for a climate-neutral future’, the conference will bring together representatives from academia, industry, politics and public administration. Discussions will focus on the future availability and strategic use of biogenic carbon sources, the supply of renewable carbon to industry and energy systems, the contribution of biomass to a fully renewable energy system, bio-based negative emissions, as well as regional value-added networks and resilience.
The two-day programme includes keynote speeches, specialist presentations, thematic sessions, panel discussions, poster presentations, an exhibition and guided tours of the DBFZ’s technical infrastructure. The programme is complemented by a variety of networking opportunities. On the evening of the first day of the event, a networking evening with dinner and musical entertainment on the DBFZ terrace will offer further opportunities for professional and personal exchange. The event is aimed at female experts from academia and research, universities, bioeconomy companies, start-ups, representatives from politics, ministries, public authorities and local councils, as well as project organisers, funding bodies and networks. It offers a platform for knowledge transfer, professional exchange and networking centred on the sustainable use of biomass and the development of a climate-neutral bioeconomy.
