Summary
In the EIP project SunBot, a driverless, electrically operated tractor-unit combination of marketable and new components is being developed. It will be used in the future for herbaceous growth under the shrubs in berry crop production. Mowing will be carried out by a novel, efficient electric cutting unit; electromechanical auxiliary drives will ensure the compatibility of existing components. The energy is to be procured from the farm-self-sufficient photovoltaic tractor via a charging station newly to develop. The use of the smart system will be tested in practice in raspberry, currant and blueberry orchards - also with regard to safe and economical operation. In addition, the influence of autonomous care measures on yield and fruit quality is examined. The fruit producers involved in the project expect a sustainable improvement compared to the status quo and thus an overall higher value added for the regional berry production. SunBot aims to improve cost-effectiveness and labor productivity in organic and integrated shrubbery cultivation. In the project, partners from research, industry and practice work closely together. Farmers play a key role here: they are also actors in the process of finding solutions and also the first users of the expected results.
