Summary
JaetRobi aims to enable herbicide-free, automated weed control in direct-seeded vegetable crops: for individual horticultural businesses, with practical equipment. In the JaetRobi project, solutions are to be found for critical points in existing technology. The goals are a) to make weed detection more universal and more widely applicable through the application of new transfer learning systems and the development of an open-source image database for training new scenarios, and b) to improve the stability and area performance of the tools for weed removal through optimisation of design and control. Sensor and actuator components are connected to form a functional working unit by mounting them on a common carrier vehicle via a central control system. Within the framework of the project, the technology will be tested under a wide variety of site conditions and diverse applications in vegetable cultivation, and image material will be collected for the open-source image database. At the end of the 3-year project, a functional demonstrator for automatic weed control in sown vegetable crops should be available.
