Summary
ATB will develop a powerful method for biogas production with a fixed-bed turntable high-performance reactor (FDHR). The FDHR contains stirring turntables with colonization materials for the immobilizing of microorganisms. For process development molasses and beet silage are used, which are enriched with micronutrients. The ATB will carry out batch experiments to identify suitable materials for the colonization of the stirrer. The aim is to develop a powerful process management. Two mesophilic and thermophilic reactors will operate on lab scale. Factors such as substrate supply, mixing program, arrangement of stirring turntables, recirculation of process liquid etc. will have to be adjusted. Lab experiments will be finalized by test series for demand-oriented use. ATB will define the guidelines for programming the control of the pilot plant and will verify the performance of the pilot plant as well as opportunities for demand-oriented use.
