We are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Laimburg Research Centre! Prof. Dr Barbara Sturm, Scientific Director at ATB and Dr Michael Oberhuber, Director of the Laimburg Research Centre, signed the agreement during a visit at ATB.

After an interesting start in our Fieldlab for digital agriculture in Marquardt, Dr Oberhuber and Jennifer Berger, Head of Science Support, Strategy & Communications at the research centre, were able to visit the ATB Bornim campus and gain further insights into our research infrastructures. The stimulating exchange with Prof Sturm and our researchers provided an excellent opportunity to get to know ATB, further explore current topics and develop joint ideas for future projects.

The aim of the MoU is to establish a long-term and strategic partnership focussing on joint

  • research and development,
  • scientific publications,
  • exchange of research results,
  • Visiting researchers at both institutions,
  • training and mentoring of young researchers and
  • use of infrastructure, resources and materials.

Important topics in our collaboration are in particular

  • Post-harvest technologies,
  • research infrastructure in fruit growing and
  • AI models in fruit production.

The signing of the MoU is a further step towards intensive cooperation between the two institutions. Both institutions joined the newly founded Alliance for Fruit, Wine and Vegetable Growing at the end of 2024. Together with ten other leading research institutions from German-speaking countries, we are committed to innovation and sustainability in agriculture.

We look forward to the upcoming collaboration with great pleasure and anticipation and are convinced that this partnership will create innovative synergies and enable significant advances in research in fruit and vegetable cultivation.
