This week, the Horizon Europe Coordination and Support Action D4AgEcol project comes to a successful close with its final symposium, held on Tuesday at the EAAE in Bonn. The strategic objective of D4AgEcol was to provide knowledge and information on various digital tools and technologies for the transition to agroecological agriculture. The vision of the consortium was a rapid digitalisation of agriculture to strengthen the agricultural sector.
During the event key insights from D4AgEcol of the potentials of digitalization as an enabler for agroecology were presented along with a keynote talk by Dr. Nadja El Benni from Agroscope, Switzerland.
The coordinator, Dr. Andreas Meyer-Aurich from the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB), emphasized the role of Living Labs to induce co-creation of innovative technologies together with farmers and industry. However, pioneering co-creation formats are still rare and deserve further attention.
The consortium presented a policy brief, which provides key insights and areas of action on how digitalisation can be harnessed to support and accelerate Europe’s pathway towards agroecology.
