How can biomass contribute strategically to climate neutrality in 2045? What biogenic carbon sources will be available in the future – and how can they be used efficiently, sustainably and in a way that benefits the system? These questions will be the focus of the DBFZ Annual Conference 2026.
Under the theme "Biomass 2045 – Designing cycles for a climate-neutral future", the conference will bring together stakeholders from science, business, politics and administration to discuss prospects for a resilient bioeconomy. The focus will be on the role of renewable carbon sources for industry and energy systems, the potential of bio-based negative emissions, and strengthening regional value chains in the context of security of supply and climate protection.
The two-day programme combines scientific presentations with practical insights, discussion formats and opportunities for personal exchange. Current research results will be combined with industrial and energy policy issues – with the aim of shaping concrete transformation paths and initiating cooperation.
The DBFZ Annual Conference thus sees itself as a central platform for knowledge transfer and networking in the field of biomass and bioenergy. It is aimed at experts from research and development, bioeconomy companies, decision-makers and representatives from project management and funding organisations.
