The Fieldlab for Digital Agriculture at Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB) is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month. What began on 1 July 2015 with the takeover of the site from the Federal Plant Variety Office in Marquardt, northwest of Potsdam, has developed into a modern experimental station that makes important contributions to research in crop production.
A decade of research for efficient agriculture
Ten years ago, the Marquardt research site opened up new opportunities for the ATB to conduct long-term research and field studies. Today, the Fieldlab for Digital Agriculture, which covers more than 20 hectares, offers all the prerequisites for working on current scientific questions and testing and demonstrating digital applications in crop production.
"Over the past ten years, the Fieldlab for Digital Agriculture has become an indispensable ATB research location in the field of digital agriculture," says Prof Dr Barbara Sturm, Scientific Director of the ATB. "It enables us to develop and test innovative technologies directly under real-life conditions, making a decisive contribution to more sustainable and efficient crop production."
A location for collaboration and exchange
The Fieldlab in Marquardt is not only used for ATB research. Project partners and research institutions from the region also use the site to carry out field trials. A user advisory board coordinates the use of the site and thus promotes joint research.
