ATB is proud to present: Dr. Marwa Shuma - ATB's 'Lady of the Flies' as she calls herself at her Twitter Account

Dr. Marwa Shumo works since February 2021 as postdoctoral researcher at Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB). Her fields of interest are insects for food and feed as innovative and alternative sources of protein, for example the industrial and large scale rearing of Hermetia illucens, as well as organic waste managment technologies for a circular based bioeconomy.
At Soapbox Science Berlin 2021 she will talk about her research and how relevant insects are to modify diets on a global scale in order to combat climate change.

Soapbox Science Berlin 2021 is a public event

26 June 2021 | 2.00 pm

Washingtonplatz | southside of Berlin Hauptbahnhof

What is Soapbox Science?
Soapbox Science explicitly engages women* as they want to promote the visibility of women* in science. Female* scientists from all over the world present their research standing on soapboxes. The event format, which was launched in Great Britain in 2011, transforms public places into an arena for public learning and scientific debate. The short lectures will be in English and/or German.

Soapbox Science Berlin is inspired and organized by a group of female scientists from all over the world, working in different fields and with a myriad of interests, reflecting Berlin's diversity with different research institutes focusing on a wide range of fields. However, less than one third of the professors in Berlin are women. Soapbox Science Berlin wants to bring science closer to society and to promote gender-equality in academia by providing women scientists with a platform for promoting their own work and discipline.
