3 June 2025: Book a Scientist - The Science Speed Dating

The "Book a Scientist" format of the Leibniz Association gives you the chance to talk to an expert  for 25 minutes and to ask everything you've always wanted to know about your favourite topic.

The individual 25-minute one-on-one conversations take place online, with the next session scheduled for 3 June 2025 from 10-11.30 a.m. and 4-5.30 p.m.

Topics from the following areas are available:

  • Economy, work & technology
  • Health, ageing & nutrition
  • People, nature & ecosystems
  • Language, education & open science
  • Environment, mobility & energy
  • Politics, society & religion
  • Media, journalism & the internet
  • Literature, culture & history

Take this opportunity to talk to ATB scientists Lena Simon and John Mulwa Ndisya! Both will be offering appointments in English.

Lena Simon: Diversification of cropping systems for the one health of soils, plants and humans

I study the effect of diversifying the crops on the plant and field produce microbiome. The goal is to asses if increased crop diversity also increases plant microbiome diversity and produces food with better quality for human health.

John Mulwa Ndisya: Resilience amidst Instability: Can Flexible Food Systems Feed the Future

How do we feed a growing population in a world facing overlapping, self-reinforcing polycrises driven by climate change, pandemics, and conflict? My research explores how to build resilience into food systems through modular systems design, process optimisation and renewable energy. The idea is that such flexible systems that adapt to shocks could help sustain food access in decentralised and increasingly unstable contexts.
