Aug 29, 2017: Leading scientists from the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) accompanied by a delegation of the Leibniz Association and members of the French Embassy visited the ATB today. The focus of interest was on research activities related to food, nutrition, and bioeconomy.

The presentation of ATB research programs and the subsequent tour through some of ATB’s laboratories were followed by intensive and fruitful discussions. The visit aimed among others at enhancing the German French collaboration in science and research. It also intended to identifying and discussing the matching dimension of possible collaboration with regards to the H2020 calls that will be opened for the 2018-2020 period.

The INRA delegation was constituted by Monique Axelos, INRA Scientific Director on Food, Nutrition and Bioeconomy, Sylvie Dequin, Head of the “MICA - Microbiology and the Food Chain” INRA division, Jean Dallongeville, Head of the “AlimH - Nutrition, Chemical Food Safety and Consumer Behaviour” INRA division, Michael O'Donohue, Head of the “CEPIA - Science for Food and Bioproduct Engineering” INRA division, and Mihaela Brut, European Affairs Officer in charge with bilateral cooperation. 

In the morning the delegation had visited the German Institute of Human Nutrition (DIfE) in Potsdam-Rehbrücke. One of the topics there was the Leibniz Research Alliance ‘Sustainable Food Production and Healthy Nutrition’ (LRA Food and Nutrition) and its strategy. The LRA was introduced by its speaker, ATB Director Reiner Brunsch, together with co-speaker Tilman Grune, Scientific Director of DifE.
