ATB since 2016
As from January 1, 2018, Prof. Dr. Annette Prochnow is acting Scientific Director of the institute. Prof. Dr. Reiner Brunsch had held this position since 2004.
Changes in ATB's research structure: The research program "Technology Assessment in Agriculture" is dissolved from 2018 on, its research activities are being integrated into ATB's other research programs "Precision Agriculture in Crop and Livestock Production", "Quality and Safety of Food and Feed" and "Material and Energetic Use of Biomass" in order to better interlink process engineering and assessment tasks in research.
In December, the consortium partners ATB and LVAT hand over the draft of an animal protection plan for the state of Brandenburg to Minister Vogelsänger, MLUL. The draft had been developed in due time within only one year involving more than 90 actors from different interest groups.
Foundation stone laid for ATB's new building "Center for Technology and Knowledge Transfer" in September in the presence of numerous guests, among them the Primeminister of the State of Brandenburg, Dr. Dietmar Woidke, and Leibniz President Prof. Dr. Matthias Kleiner. The two-storey new building extends the institute's infrastructure with new laboratories, offices and conference rooms.
From Sept 1, 2016, the institute has a new name: "Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB)". The new institute's name is reflecting ATB's long pursued research orientation on research on bio-economic production systems.
Prof. Dr. Bernd Linke retires as head of the Bioengineering Department. Dr. Christine Idler is acting head of the department.
