Research Programs at ATB

Precision farming and precision livestock production

  Coordination:   Dr. Robin Gebbers

Research aims at enhanced resource efficiency through improved techniques and processes for crop and animal production. Main tasks are monitoring of plants and animals including their environment and modeling and design of new production processes. Development and application of novel sensors combined with advanced data management plays a key role.

Technology assessment in agriculture

 Coordination: Dr. Andreas Meyer-Aurich

The program ’s tasks are cross-sectional. It analyzes interactions of environmental and economic effects of the use of technologies in agriculture with the aim to provide decision support at different scales from farmers to policy levels. Research activities involve the analysis of greenhouse gas mitigation strategies in and modeling of agricultural systems, resource competition especially in the case of bio-energy.
