Plasma will increase shelf life and safety of fresh produce
Prolonged shelf life and increased safety of perishable produce by using plasma and novel optical methods for detecting microbial contamination is the aim of the recently started joint research project FriPlas. The project brings together six partners from research and industry. It is funded by BLE/BMELV and coordinated by ATB.

With biogas and biochar to carbon sinks - Project APECS just started
APECS aims at an efficient and sustainable production of biomethane as valuable energy source and of biochar as carbon sink for soil melioration. Basis of the process is the combination of biological and thermochemical conversion of organic residues. During the next five years the team around Dr. Jan Mumme will work on the scientific and technical basis of the process. The project is one of the winners of the "Competition for ideas Bioenergy" and is funded by the BMBF-Programme „BioEnergy2021“.

Press Release 11.02.2010
Focussing the small difference
To secure food supplies in adequate quantities and quality of agricultural produce precision agriculture becomes a key technology for the future. It provides a means to monitor the food production chain and manage both the quantity and quality of agricultural produce. This is the conclusion drawn by Robin Gebbers from Leibniz-Institute for Agricultural Engineering Potsdam-Bornim and by Viacheslav Adamchuk from University of Nebraska-Lincoln in an article published by Science magazine on 12 Februar 2010.
