Dr.-Ing. Detlef Ehlert
The Head of ATB's
Department Engineering for Crop Production received the award at the 69th International Conference LAND.TECHNIK - AgEng in Hanover on 11 November 2011. Prof. Stefan Boettinger, President of the Max-Eyth Society for Agricultural Engineering (VDI-MEG), paid tribute to Ehlert for his outstanding scientific achievements  particularly in the field of sensor technology in crop production as well as for his commitment as a long-standing chairman of the conference program committee LAND.TECHNIK.

Research partners from seven ERA-Net member states came together at ATB for the 3d-Mosaic kick-offERA-Net ICT-Agri project 3D-Mosaic is a research project within the European Research Area Network Information and Communication Technologies in Agriculture. The project targets a more efficient water use in fruit crops. 3D-Mosaic unites the multidisciplinary expertise of eleven partners from seven ICT-AGRI member countries. The project is coordinated by ATB.

Plasma will increase shelf life and safety of fresh produce
Prolonged shelf life and increased safety of perishable produce by using plasma and novel optical methods for detecting microbial contamination is the aim of the recently started joint research project FriPlas. The project brings together six partners from research and industry. It is funded by BLE/BMELV and coordinated by ATB.

With biogas and biochar to carbon sinks
APECS aims at an efficient and sustainable production of biomethane as valuable energy source and of biochar as carbon sink for soil melioration. Basis of the process is the combination of biological and thermochemical conversion of organic residues.

Press Release 06/2011
Transnational ERA-Net project 3D-Mosaic targeting efficient irrigation in fruit crops started in Potsdam
3D-Mosaic aims to improve irrigation in fruit crops in terms of water use, yield, and fruit quality. For today's kick-off meeting at the Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Engineering in Potsdam, Dr. Christian Grugel, Director General of the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV), presented the grant contracts to the national project partners.
