Library services

The following services are offered by the ATB library:

  • Professional consultation

  • Acquisition and procurement of special literature for the institute members

  • Realization of external borrow

  • Preparation of professional inquiries with the help of the literature database CAB-abstracts

  • Compilation of inventory listings

  • Treatment of external user calls

Facilities

The library surface is divided into 3 floors with a total area of more then 170 m2 

1. Floor - modern reading room with:

  • 5 workplaces for library users 

  • 2 PC-workstations with Internet access and laserprinter

  • 1 Copier 

2. Floor :

  • Microfiche-viewer

  • Collection of scientific magazines

3. Floor:

  • Collection of journales

The ATB library inventory has on February 01. 2012 the following media units:

User information

The ATB-library is a reference library for the institute’s research staff. The composition of the collection reflects the fields of research and ongoing projects of the ATB in the field of agricultural, environmental and process engineering. The main purpose is to provide new scientific results, new developments and procedures for research, studies, education and precise information.

External users may consult literature in the reading room. The library participates in the interlibrary loan services. For orders made on the interlibrary loan request form, photocopies of items up to 20 pages are delivered free of charge within Germany. The ATB-library is an open-stack, non-lending facility.

The staff members of the institute have the possibility to do online literary research with the help of the databases  "WEB of Science" http://isiknowledge.com and CAB-abstracts from every workplace of the institute base.
The ATB library has an electronic catalogue including a catalogue for individual articles published in collections. The catalogue can be accessed through the in-house network. Furthermore, library users have in-house access to a series of reference works on CD-ROM as well as to various external online databases.
