For analysing the vacuum system of different milking clusters of vacuum stability and periodic disturbances wet-test method is used.
Analysed systems
- automatic milking systems with single tube guiding (AMS)
- conventional milking parlours/clusters (MC 3 to 5),
- conventional milking parlours with single tube milking cluster (MC 1 and 2)
The vacuum fluctuations in different milking clusters by milk flow of 8 l/min are depicted in the table.

First results of vacuum behaviour |
 |
The figure depicts the mean vacuum at teat end in different milking clusters by different milk flows from 0.0 to 8.0 l/min.
As a second result differences between the vacuum fluctuations in the different milking systems are depicted in the table. The single tube milking cluster with a tube diameter of 16 mm (MC 1) shows the lowest fluctuations and the best vacuum stability. The conventional milking clusters showed only good results for one parameter either in vacuum stability or vacuum fluctuations.
